Création d’un événement collectif, fédérateur et festif pour la saison printanière: un “méga pique nique”
Projet réalisé en collaboration avec les habitant·es de la résidence ICF, Pépins Production, La Friche Belle de Mai, Biennale Chroniques, l’association Cultures du Coeur, Famille en Action et La Source

En collaboration avec l’association Pépins Productions, nous avons remporté un Appel à Manifestation d’Intérêt portant sur l’activation du jardin de la Résidence ICF Habitat, située au 99 bis rue de Crimée, au croisement des quartiers Saint-Lazare, Belle de Mai et National. Ce projet, initié par la Friche Belle de Mai et Chroniques / Seconde Nature dans le cadre du programme européen “Futur Diversities”, se déploie de septembre 2024 à juillet 2025 et s’inscrit dans une démarche de co-construction avec les habitant·es et les acteurs associatifs du quartier — notamment Familles en action, Culture du Cœur 13 et La Source. Niché entre les immeubles de la résidence ICF, ce jardin est souvent utilisé par les enfants, parfois traversé par les adultes. Pour arriver dans ce jardin, nous avons choisi de nous y installer avec délicatesse : en observant d’abord, en écoutant les récits et les gestes du quotidien. Peu à peu, par de petits ateliers, des tables partagées, des plantations et des constructions légères, les liens se sont tissés. Puis, en concertation avec les actrices, est née l'envie de créer un événement collectif, fédérateur et festif pour la saison printanière : “Un méga pique-nique”, où chacun·e est invité à participer . Afin de mettre en scène ce joyeux évènement, du mobilier à été construit : un grand banc qui fait aussi office de traverse paysagère, une scène, un toboggan et une deuxième table. Des plantes ont été plantées : lin bleu, basilic, thym, romarin, moutarde, sauge, calendula, phacélie, ciboulette, capucine, menthe, sarrasin…12 grandes nappes ont été cousues au jardin avec un groupe de femmes et les enfants, à partir de tissus récoltés sur place et glanés en magasin. Elles s’assemblent entre elles pour devenir méga nappe et accueillir la communauté du jardin pendant le méga pique-nique ! Enfin, une myriade de plats préparés par les habitant·es pendant une journée d’atelier cuisine à la Source et chez elles·eux, pour le plaisir des nombreux·ses participant·es !. Le jour venu, les nappes se sont déployées, les plats se sont partagés et la communauté du jardin s’est révélée. Ce projet aura avant tout été une manière d’habiter ensemble un lieu, de reconnaître les savoir-faire des habitant·es, et renforcer la dimension chaleureuse et collective.


In collaboration with the association Pépins Productions, we won an open call on activating the garden of the ICF Habitat Residence, located at 99 bis rue de Crimée, at the crossroads of the Saint-Lazare, Belle de Mai and National neighbourhoods. This project, initiated by the Friche Belle de Mai and Chroniques / Seconde Nature as part of the European programme ‘Futur Diversities’, will run from September 2024 to July 2025 and is part of a co-construction approach with the residents and local community organisations in the neighbourhood — including Familles en action, Culture du Cœur 13 and La Source. Nestled between the buildings of the ICF residence, this garden is often used by children and sometimes crossed by adults. To intervene in this garden, we chose to settle in gently: first observing, listening to stories and watching everyday activities Gradually, through small workshops, shared meals, planting and light construction, bonds were formed. Then, in consultation with the local participants, emerge the desire to create a collective, unifying and festive event for the spring season: ‘A mega picnic’, where everyone was invited to take part. In order to stage this joyful gathering, furniture was built: a large bench that also serves as a landscape feature, a stage, a slide and a second table. Plants were planted: blue flax, basil, thyme, rosemary, mustard, sage, calendula, phacelia, chives, nasturtium, mint, buckwheat... Twelve large tablecloths were sewn in the garden with a group of women and children, using fabric collected on site and gleaned from shops. They were assembled to form a mega tablecloth to welcome the garden community during the mega picnic! Finally, a myriad of dishes were prepared by the residents during a collective cooking workshop at La Source and in their own homes, to the delight of the many participants! When the day arrived, the tablecloths were laid out, the dishes were shared, and the garden community came together. Above all, this project was a way of living together in one place, recognising the skills of the residents, and strengthening the warm and collective atmosphere.
